Face Mask Requirement Lifted on All Bus Lines

Face Mask Requirement Lifted on All Bus Lines

September 30,2022

AC Transit will allow riders to board without having to wear a face mask as of Sunday October 2, 2022.

Our protocol has been updated a result of careful consideration, including the consistent decline in COVID-positive cases documented by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) since July 2022.

However, please keep in mind, that mask wearing requirements are subject to change according to health and safety circumstances, including but not limited to:

  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) or Transportation Security Administration (TSA) impose new masking mandates
  • The California Department of Public Health reinstates an indoor masking requirement
  • Health officers from Alameda and Contra Costa counties reinstate indoor masking requirements
  • The Bay Area experiences a spike in COVID-positive cases

Customers may exercise personal choice and continue to wear a face mask while riding our bus lines.  In support of individual preferences, AC Transit will continue to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) dispensers at the entrance of each bus.  Complimentary, disposable face masks and hand sanitizer will be available for the convenience of our riders.

Your health and safety will always be our priority. Thank you for riding AC Transit.
