Qualifications of Office for the November 5, 2024 General Election (See Transit District Law Public Utilities Code):
- Candidates must be a resident and voter of the District (PUC §24801).
- Any person may be nominated for the office of director upon written petition of a minimum 50 qualified voters of the ward in which a candidate resides and wishes to represent or 100 qualified signatures of the district for candidates seeking an at large position on the Board (PUC §24826, 24827).
- The nomination paper shall include a filing fee in the amount of one hundred fifty dollars ($150) in lieu of signatures.
- All nomination papers shall be filed with, and all in-lieu fees shall be paid to, the county elections official in the county or counties in which the candidate is running.
Nomination petitions and campaign reporting materials are prepared as a separate packet and can only be obtained from the elections office in your county. Alameda County residents can obtain these materials from the Alameda County Registrar of Voters Office at 1225 Fallon Street, G-1, Oakland (510) 272-6933. The Contra Costa Elections Department has advised that Contra Costa County residents may obtain materials at the Contra Costa County Election Office, 555 Escobar Street, in Martinez.
