AC Transit’s discounted fare programs make getting around even easier for eligible riders

Youth, seniors, and riders with disabilities can receive discount fares and passes to ride AC Transit. Discount fares can be purchased using cash on board buses with valid ID, with Clipper by applying for a discount Clipper card, through AC Transit’s mobile payment platform, and at the AC Transit Customer Service Center.

Other discount programs are provided through Clipper and are available to riders who meet certain eligibility requirements.

Discount Fares

Discounts - Youth

Youth

Riders aged 5-18 are eligible for Youth fares. The best way to pay is by applying for a Youth Clipper card

Children under 5 ride free.  

Discounts - Senior/Disabled

Senior/Disabled

Riders aged 65 and older or riders who are disabled are eligible for Senior/Disabled fares. When paying with cash riders should be prepared to show identification. The best way to pay is by applying for a Senior Clipper card or an RTC card for disabled riders.

Discounts - RTC

RTC Card

The Regional Transit Connection (RTC) Discount ID Card is available to persons with qualifying disabilities. You may use the card as proof of eligibility to receive discount fares on fixed-route, rail and ferry systems throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Discounts - Clipper START

Clipper START

Clipper START offers eligible low-income riders in the Bay Area 20 percent off of AC Transit Adult single ride cash fares. Riders in the Clipper START program will receive their own personalized Clipper card in the mail to get their discounts at all the participating Clipper START transit agencies. Learn if you are eligible and apply at clipperstartcard.com.

Discounts - Students

Student Transit Pass Program

The Student Transit Pass Program (STPP) provides free youth Clipper cards to eligible middle and high school students in Alameda County. Students can use these cards for unlimited free bus rides on AC Transit. Visit the Alameda CTC website to see if you or your student is eligible to receive a pass.

Discounts - EasyPass

AC Transit EasyPass

The AC Transit EasyPass program is an annual group transit benefit for eligible organizations. This program is offered to employers, residential communities, and colleges or universities whose user group will consist of 100 or more people or residential units. Participation in this program provides access to unlimited bus rides all year long by paying an annual fee for everyone in your group. Sponsoring a pool of participants, keeps individual  pass costs low, giving every participant access to unlimited bus service whenever they want. While EasyPass programs are invoiced annually, they cost as little as $5-$18 a month per participant depending on program, location and group size. Visit our EasyPass page to learn more.
