AC Transit is recruiting two East Bay residents for the Parcel Tax Fiscal Oversight Committee

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) is currently accepting applications to fill two vacancies on the District’s Parcel Tax Fiscal Oversight Committee. Committee members serve in a voluntary capacity with a three-year term of office and are subject to reappointment by the Board of Directors.

The AC Transit District Parcel Tax Fiscal Oversight Committee was first established as the Measure AA Oversight Committee in 2003 by the District’s Board of Directors. The Committee reviews the most recent fiscal year-end annual audit and ensures funds generated by AC Transit’s parcel tax measures are expended per the intentions of the voters. It also provides a report of its findings to the Board of Directors on an annual basis.

The seven-member Committee represents the diverse interests and geographic distribution of the communities served by AC Transit’s Special Transit Service District One, which include the 11 cities and unincorporated areas of Alameda, Albany, Ashland, Berkeley, Castro Valley, Cherryland, El Cerrito, El Sobrante, Emeryville, Fairview, Hayward, Kensington, Oakland, Piedmont, Richmond, San Leandro, San Pablo, and San Lorenzo.

Applicants for the two available seats must reside within Special District One and cannot be an employee, vendor, contractor, or consultant of AC Transit. A general understanding of basic accounting principles and experience in interpreting financial documents are highly desirable.

Completed applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m., Friday, July 30.
