AC TRANSIT HOST RECRUITMENT DRAFT DAY 2020

Daylong onsite interviews for Bus Operator and Mechanic openings, Friday, January 31

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) is extending an invitation to kick-off Super Bowl weekend with a new career in transit. Draft Day 2020 is AC Transit’s unprecedented one-day recruitment event on Friday, January 31 at 20234 Mack Street, Hayward, CA. Due to an anticipated large turnout, Draft Day candidates may check-in at 9:30 am or 12:30 pm.

Draft Day 2020 is pulling back the curtains on our selection process, for a daylong experience on what it takes to join the region’s most elite Bus Operators and Journey Level Mechanics. Prior submission of an application is not required. Additionally, professional driving experience is not required for consideration as a Bus Operator. AC Transit will provide industry-leading training in preparation for the California Class-B Commercial Driver’s license.

What is required for consideration as a Bus Operators? A valid driver’s license for at least three (3) years; a safe driving record; and passage of a criminal background check

What is required for consideration as a Journey Level Mechanic? Four (4) years prior experience; a safe driving record; successful completion of a written exam; and a hands-on technical skills test.

Similar to the draft selection rounds in professional sports, AC Transit Draft Day 2020 cycles interested candidates through rounds as well. Round One includes insider information sessions from our experts in Transportation, Maintenance, Benefits, Salary, and Classroom Training. No need for a pen or pencil, Round Two features staff-assisted online application review. The Final Round, heightens the Super Bowl experience, with onsite interviews within the Montana, Mostert, Rice, Bosa, and Garoppolo themed rooms.

AC Transit Bus Operators earn up to $31.57 per hour and full benefits package. What’s more, each candidate successfully placed in our Bus Operator training course will receive full pay and benefits. Journey Level Mechanics earn $38.07 per hour with full-time hours (40 hours per week) and full benefits package.
